Health is the theme in focus at this week's 'Go to the Village' Urban Market. This Wednesday, May 31st, the urban centre of Famalicão will be transformed into an authentic health promoter pole, including information posts, screening area, showcookings and physical activity classes. The market will operate from 9am to 1pm and from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.
In Alameda D. Maria II will be installed the information posts, with the presence of entities such as the Association of Blood Donors of Vila Nova de Famalicão, the Community Care Unit and the Voluntary Firemen of Famalicão, as well as the screenings in partnership with Jorge Oculista, Widex, Cooperative of Polytechnic and University Higher Education (CESPU) and the pharmacies of Devesa and Calendário.
In the back of the Cupertino de Miranda Foundation, next to the water and light games, there will be an area dedicated to the promotion of physical activity, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., provided by technicians from the Sports Division of Vila Nova de Famalicão Municipality.
The fair also includes a space dedicated to healthy eating habits, in the Praça - Famalicão Municipal Market. Throughout the day, three showcookings are scheduled on the following themes: 'How to make a healthy brunch at home' (9am), 'Light lunches for hot days, meals for the beach and picnics' (11.15am), and 'Guilt-free ice creams' (3.30pm). All sessions are open to the public, have an approximate duration of 30 minutes and will be run by the municipality's Sports and Youth departments.
The Health Market is organised by Vila Nova de Famalicão Municipality in collaboration with Escola Profissional CIOR.
