The number of unemployed people registered at the Job Centre in Famalicão, in the month of April 2023, was the lowest recorded after the pandemic period. The rate is around 3.7%, well below the national average that stands at 7.2%. Also according to data from the Institute of Employment and Vocational Training (IEFP) there are in Famalicão a total of 3362 registered unemployed, a figure very close to what is considered 'residual unemployment' and which contrasts with the more than five thousand unemployed who were registered in May 2020, the highest recorded in pandemic time.
"These are data that please us, but that do not leave us satisfied (...) perfect would be to have full employment, and that is why we continue to develop actions throughout the territory, such as the Employment Market, which is taking place in Praça D. Maria II, and which aims to disseminate job opportunities in the county" said Mário Passos, Mayor of Vila Nova de Famalicão, highlighting the initiative that runs until tomorrow, May 19, between 10am and 8pm, in the centre of Famalicão.
"We are a municipality with robust and technologically developed companies, and this allows us to create more and better jobs, and to attract talent", the mayor also pointed out.
At the Job Market, there are about 200 job offers made available by companies such as Continental, Riopele, TMG or Campicarn, looking for very different profiles, from administrative staff, qualified executives or simple operators.
"These are important actions for us, because we have very different needs and here we reach a very heterogeneous public, with very positive reflexes because, fortunately, we keep hiring and we broaden the recruitment base here", Carlos Monteiro, Director of Human Resources and Training of the Campicarn Group, pointed out.
The fair is an opportunity for students, unemployed and citizens in search of new professional opportunities to contact directly with some of the main employers in Famalicão.
