The Portuguese Women's Football Cup and the National Youth Championship trophy, won last Saturday by Futebol Clube de Famalicão, will be displayed at the Town Hall of Vila Nova de Famalicão.
The news was presented this Monday, May 29, by the mayor, Mário Passos, in the reception and tribute to the teams of female football and Under-19 of the Famalicão club.
The moment of consecration of the two teams took place in an atmosphere of great celebration in Paços do Concelho, with hundreds of fans applauding and celebrating the unprecedented titles won by the two formations last weekend.
Alongside club president, Jorge Silva, SAD president, Miguel Ribeiro, and the captains of the two teams, Luís Sampaio and Regina Pereira, Mário Passos praised "the enormous pride and joy that the two teams gave to famalicenses", congratulating athletes, coaching staff and management.
The mayor, who last Saturday attended the final of Jamor, stressed how much sport, and in this case football, "has contributed to the projection of the county and to the affirmation of the greatness of Famalicão" that, as the mayor recalled, is preparing to present next Sunday, June 4, the candidacy to "European City of Sport 2025".
The president of Futebol Clube de Famalicão, Jorge Silva, and the president of SAD, Miguel Ribeiro, praised the work developed by the two teams throughout the season, their delivery and dedication. "That merit belongs to each and every one of you," said Jorge Silva.
Mário Passos also expressed the desire to continue to support Futebol Clube de Famalicão and to "create conditions so that achievements like these are increasingly a reality", recalling that the municipality is analysing and working on the issue of the stadium. "It has to be something positive for the whole municipality, but without compromising the future," he said.
