It is with the Catalans Pol Batlle and Rita Payés that Vila Nova de Famalicão will welcome another edition of Devesa Sunset.
The intimate sunset concerts return this Friday, 4 August, to Parque da Devesa. Cassete Pirata, Bia Maria & Carlos Sanches and Salvador Sobral make up the rest of the programme, promoted by the local authority.
Singer-songwriter Pol Batlle presents his first album – Salt Mortal – produced by Latin Grammy Award winner Juan Berbín, to the Portuguese audience. Accompanied by the unmistakable voice Rita Payés, the album's presentation tour has already passed through countries like Spain and Italy.
On the 11th, Devesa Sunset welcomes a sure name of the Portuguese indie scene, Cassete Pirata. Formed by Pir (voice and guitar), João Pinheiro (drums), António Quintino (bass), Joana Espadinha (keys and voice) and Margarida Campelo (keys and voice), Cassete Pirata made themselves known in 2017 through an EP of the same name produced by Benjamim, who would also produce the band's first albums, "A Montra", in 2019, and "A Semente", in 2021. For the 2023 season, Cassete Pirata brings new singles, with their eyes already set on the future and the next album.
On 18 August, it's Bia Maria & Carlos Sanches' turn to take the stage at Devesa Sunset. United by the desire to tell stories through songs, Bia Maria and Carlos Sanches crossed paths for the first time in 2021 and never stopped collaborating together. Considered emerging names in the Portuguese music scene, both have made their way through national venues and festivals. After the EPs released in 2022, with Bia unveiling "Do Roberto" (considered one of the best of the year by critics) and Carlos "A Migração das Andorinhas (with an honourable mention in the "Novos Talentos Fnac" awards with "Clara em Contraluz"), this concert celebrates the meeting of styles and experiences, but above all friendship.
Devesa Sunset closes on 25 August with Salvador Sobral. The Portuguese musician once again joins guitarists André Santos and Manuel Rocha for an unprecedented concert that revisits his latest album "bpm" and reveals a little of "Timbre", the next record of originals scheduled for release on 29 September.
Devesa Sunset has been held since 2015, every Friday in August, in a relaxed atmosphere that brings culture to meet nature. The concerts take place by the lake of Parque da Devesa, start at 7 pm and have free admission.
