This Sunday, 19 November, the mayor of Vila Nova de Famalicão, Mário Passos, marked the start of construction of the new multipurpose hall in Nine by planting an olive tree,
"which will come to life and accompany the growth of this new space that will be strengthened by the life that the many associations in this parish will bring to it".
Nine's future multipurpose facility is a multifunctional space of around 600 square metres, prepared to host cultural, recreational and community initiatives. "It's a facility that will be enjoyed by everyone and with everyone, taking advantage of the dynamics of the parish's associations and movements," said the mayor.
It should be noted that the work received municipal support totalling 147,000 euros for the first phase of the contract.
"It's an investment that we've been looking forward to for a long time, important for the parish, to further enhance what our associations are all about and where every Ninense will certainly find their place," said Paulo Oliveira, president of the parish council.
Nine's new multi-purpose centre is located on Avenida dos Correios and should be completed by the middle of next year.
Mário Passos also took the opportunity to list some future investments planned for the parish.
"There is a desire to build a new Family Health Unit on the land next door, taking advantage of the availability of PRR funds, as soon as possible, since the existing health unit is saturated and unable to provide the response we believe is necessary." The mayor also announced that a new leisure area is being planned for Largo de Santo António, the centre of the parish, on land recently acquired by the municipality.
