On Thursday, March 9, the public discussion period begins on the new Urban Implementation Unit for the northern area of Vila Nova de Famalicão, which will considerably improve access to the S. João de Deus Hospital and the surrounding area, through the creation of a roundabout on Avenida 9 de Julho and respective road connections to the hospital and the Talvai area. The notice in Official Gazette was published last March 2nd, and the public discussion will be open for a period of 20 working days - five days after the publication of the notice - ending on April 5th.
Interested parties may consult the proposal of the Execution Unit on the Municipality's website at www.famalicao.pt (https://www.famalicao.pt/area-norte-da-cidade). Meanwhile, on 20 March, at 18h00, the Town Hall organises a public information session on the process, which will take place in the Town Hall building, in the Municipal Assembly Room.
The delimited area is located next to Avenida 9 de Julho and Norton de Matos Street, north of the S. João de Deus Hospital, in the Parishes of Vila Nova de Famalicão and Calendário, covers an area of 23,490.25m², complies with the legal requirements regarding the delimitation criteria of the execution units and aims at the structuring and consolidation of the northern area of the city.
The proposal aims at the reparcelling and infrastructure of an area destined for edification. With commercial and service zones, and others destined for housing, allowing, in turn, the elimination of an existing health risk area, as well as a new dignified and fundamental access to the hospital, both for ambulances and for traffic in general, with the benefit of a public car park nearby.
The implementation of this project will also allow an area of 3,274m² of land to be made available to the public domain for the construction of a public car park, thus increasing the number of parking spaces in the area adjacent to the S. João de Deus Hospital.
