The mayors of Famalicão, Maia and Trofa, Mário Passos, António Silva Tiago and Sérgio Humberto, respectively, publicly welcome the launch of the public tender for the start of the fourth and final phase of the contract for the Variant of the National 14 highway, which includes the construction of a new bridge over the river Ave.
The public procurement launched by Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) was published in Official Gazette on 5 May, with a deadline for submission of proposals of 20 June 2023.
The base value of the work is 17 million euros and the deadline for execution of the contract is 600 days.
The three mayors met this Monday morning to monitor the progress of the works that are currently underway in the municipality of Trofa and reinforced their satisfaction with the progress of the last phase of the work.
Mário Passos, António Silva Tiago and Sérgio Humberto are talking about an intervention that has long been demanded from central government by the populations of the three municipalities, especially by the business community, which is one of the main hubs of producers, employers and exporters in the country and which has seen its activity "severely hampered due to traffic constraints on the EN14".
Moreover, they add: "We are talking about a decades-old problem that has caused many constraints for the population and has stunted the growth of companies based here".
The intervention will improve "the conditions of safety and accessibility in a densely populated area with great business dynamics, but strongly conditioned by the high degree of congestion and marginal pressure that characterise the current National Road 14", as can be read in the description of the tender.
