The mayor of Vila Nova de Famalicão joined in this weekend's celebrations to mark the 15th anniversary of the Famalicão Hospital's Medical-Surgical Emergency Service (SUMC).
Mário Passos attended a seminar dedicated to the future of this medical service, which took place last Saturday, January 27, at the Camillian Studies Centre in Seide, where dozens of health professionals were also present.
The mayor emphasised the "dedication and zeal for the health and well-being of the people of Famalicão" of the SUMC professionals and the entire Famalicão Hospital, and assured that the City Council "will continue to take the necessary steps to ensure that the Famalicão Hospital continues to grow and improve its services, despite the current difficulties of the National Health Service".
António Barbosa, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Médio Ave Local Health Unit (ULS), expressed his confidence in the future of this service, praising the work of its "excellent team of professionals".
It should be remembered that on 17 January, the 15 years of the SUMC were also on the table at the seventh 'Haja Saúde' information session, an initiative promoted by the Municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão in partnership with the Médio Ave Hospital Centre (CHMA), ACES AVE - Famalicão and the Narciso Ferreira Hospital, which aims to promote health literacy and education, and which took place at the Camilo Castelo Branco Municipal Library.
