The festival of casca de carvalho melon and green wine returns to Famalicão this weekend. After last year's success, the Green Melon initiative has grown and now expands from the Municipal Market, where the producers will hold the party, to D. Maria II Square, where the Arts and Crafts Market will take place with the presence of artisans from Famalicão and a wide selection of homemade products full of authentic flavours.
Augusto Martins and Joaquim Gonçalves, two producers of oak-peeled melon from Famalicão, will be present in the Praça - Famalicão Market, accompanied by the best specimens of their harvest.
In addition to this juicy product with a unique flavour, it will also be possible to taste some of the most beautiful green wines of our region, under the seal of Casa Agrícola de Compostela, Vinhos Castro and Frutivinhos, as well as tasty delicacies from Fumeiro do Fernando, Fumeiro Rosa Mendes and Talho Divino Salvador.
The 2nd edition of Green Melon, promoted by the Municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão, starts this Friday, 4th August, and lasts until Sunday, 6th August, with free admission.
At the Municipal Market, the event will run from 3.30 pm to 1 am on Friday and Saturday, and from 11 am to 9 pm on Sunday.
This year's novelty, the Arts and Flavours Market, which will be installed in Alameda D. Maria II, will operate on 5 and 6 August, from 10 am to 8 pm, with the presence of 14 exhibitors from Famalicense, who will showcase their talent for crafts and share delicious products made by them.
It should also be noted that Green Melon also includes showcooking, concerts and dynamics aimed at the emigrant community. The full programme can be found here.
