Famalicão City Council will award 436 scholarships to young people from Famalicão attending higher education, totalling 258,000 euros,
"the largest ever", points out the mayor, Mário Passos.
"Education and qualification are fundamental to our future and that's why this investment is to continue," said the mayor, who also praised the city council's desire "to reach more students and support their training process in higher education".
The measure is the result of an assessment of the 671 applications submitted and which, once the process of analysis and complaints has been completed, has defined the final list of scholarship holders to be supported this academic year.
The grants awarded vary between 500 and 1100 euros. There are 265 scholarship holders who will receive support of 500 euros, with 600 euros for 72 students, 5 scholarships totalling 700 euros, 750 euros for 48 scholarships, 850 euros for 17 young people and 950 euros for 3 students. With 1000 euros 19 young people were honoured and with 1100 euros 6.
