The business mission that took a delegation of around three dozen people representing educational institutions, business associations, technology centres, training centres and companies from the municipality of Famalicão to China last May was recognised by the Luso-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the "Economic Promotion Award".
The trip, at the invitation of the Chinese Embassy in Portugal and Wuhan Textile University, was designed to publicise the best that Famalicão has to offer in the textile sector, promoting the industry and the scientific and technological system, and in this context creating opportunities for future relations between agents in the two countries.
"We're proud of this recognition, which reflects the success of the mission, not only because of the sharing and knowledge of what is being done in China, but also because of the common projects, investment or export projects that may come to fruition," said Augusto Lima, Councillor for the Economy and Entrepreneurship, who represented the municipality and received the award, presented last Wednesday, 8 November, during the Portugal-China Gala.
"The TMG Group is the Portuguese company with the largest investment underway in China, and I recall that this business mission initiated several contacts to share knowledge, namely in the applications of textiles to health, the automobile sector, sports and protection, areas of specialised research at Wuhan Textile University in China, areas in which Famalicão is also an industrial reference in the sector," added Augusto Lima, stressing that "the potential of the bilateral relationship between the two countries is enormous and this award can help them see us as a territory with all the conditions to attract investment."
It should be noted that the Portugal - China Gala awarded Business Merit prizes to companies and institutions that have contributed to strengthening economic ties between the two countries, in an initiative that also marked the 45th anniversary of the Portuguese-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
