Famalicão has an Animal Rescue Squad available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for rescue services and collection of abandoned animals or animals in distress.
Associated to CROA - Centro de Recolha Oficial Animal de Famalicão, and working in articulation with the security and rescue forces of the municipality for a faster and more effective response, the new team, and associated resources, was presented by the Mayor of the Municipality this Tuesday, 4th October, World Animal Day.
As resources, the Animal Rescue Squad has a van with necessary equipment to rescue either in depth or in height, and safely, abandoned animals or animals in dangerous situations.
"With this additional service, we clearly demonstrate our commitment to the welfare and defence of animals" highlighted the Mayor, Mário Passos. "It is a good example at regional level, and I believe it will inspire other municipalities to invest in these services, in order to effectively help abandoned animals", he highlights.
Besides the presentation of the Animal Rescue Squad of Famalicão, the "Cats' Village" was also inaugurated, a space located in the gardens of CROA dedicated to the small felines, which will serve to house the animals and cope with the existing overcrowding, with the best conditions of safety and welfare. Distinctions were also given to volunteers and representatives of local authorities who are CROA's partners, as a gesture of gratitude for their support.
