The general feeling is that the Flower Festival is increasingly becoming one of the biggest cultural and tourist attractions in the municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão.
This year's edition of the event, which ended this Sunday, 12 May, with a sea of people in the city to watch the grandiose and much acclaimed "Battle of the Flowers", was one of the most attended ever in the history of the event.
Thousands of people passed through Famalicão's urban centre over the last three days. "It was a great weekend for Vila Nova de Famalicão. Seeing the streets full of lively people, socialising with family or friends and enjoying the various moments, the various activities and the various spaces provided by the Flower Festival and seeing the satisfaction of everyone involved in the event fills me with satisfaction," said mayor Mário Passos.
The mayor also believes that part of the great success of the Flower Festival lies in the involvement of the entire Famalicense community. "I cannot thank enough the efforts of all those who helped to make the Flower Festival a success. Without them the festival wouldn't be the same."
Of the various moments that made up the event's entertainment programme, Saturday night's concert by singer Carolina de Deus is also worth highlighting.
The Flower Festival transformed the centre of Famalicão into a space for intergenerational and intercultural interaction, with a flower and plant market, local products, taverns, art, music and street entertainment.
