Town Hall in darkness for Earth Hour

05-03-2026
On 28 March, the municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão will once again join the World Wildlife Fund's global challenge, which calls on citizens to turn off the lights in monuments and homes around the world to draw attention to climate change.

As usual, the Town Hall of Famalicão will be in darkness between 8.30 pm and 9.30 pm. In addition to challenging people to turn off their lights at home, the local authority is also inviting the residents of Famalicão to cycle in the dark and illuminate - by activating dynamos installed on their bicycles - the monuments and buildings of the municipality that will be featured in a 3D model installed in the Town Hall.

The initiative is promoted in partnership with Eugénios gym.

It should be noted that 2026 marks the 20th anniversary of Earth Hour, considered the largest global event dedicated to climate action and nature protection.
