The talented Portuguese singer-songwriter
Milhanas, recently nominated for the Golden Globes 2024 in the ‘Best Performer’ category, is the artist who will kick off another edition of Devesa Sunset.
The concert takes place this Friday, 2 August, at 7pm, by the lake in Devesa Park, in a relaxed atmosphere and with free entry.
Carolina Milhanas was born in 2001 and began studying music at an early age. She studied violin, vocal technique, was part of a jazz combo and a modern music combo, took part in a gospel choir, music training, music history, composition and musical theatre. Although she's not a fado singer, it's fado that inspires her and reminds her of the importance of words, silence and interpretation.
In 2023, the year of the artist's consecration, Milhanas was nominated in the categories of ‘Best Song’ and ‘Breakthrough Artist’ at the Play Awards for Portuguese Music and nominated for the Golden Globes for ‘Best Song of the Year’ and ‘Breakthrough Award’, having also received a nomination for ‘Best Performance of the Year’ at the Iberian Awards.
‘De Sombra a Sombra’ marks her debut on record and explores the author's shadows and regrets. Mixing modern interpretations of fado with pop and urban music, Milhanas' debut album promises to become a landmark in contemporary Portuguese music through the unique identity it demonstrates.
As well as Milhanas, this year the British band Flyte (on the 9th), Nancy Vieira (on the 16th) and Cristovám (on the 23rd) will also be performing at Devesa Sunset.
Devesa Sunset, promoted by the Famalicão Municipality since 2015, takes place every Friday in August in a relaxed atmosphere that brings culture together with nature. The concerts take place by the lake in Devesa Park, start at 7pm and are free to attend.
