'Museums of Famalicão. The Other Side' is the name of the photography book that will be publicly presented at the Praça - Mercado Municipal de Famalicão on November 26, at 16h00, with the presence of the author, Alfredo Cunha, followed by the opening of the exhibition with the same name, inspired in the 10 years of networking of the Famalicão Museums. The exhibition will be open until 31 May 2023, at the municipal market.
The initiative is included in the VI Meeting of the Network of Museums of Vila Nova de Famalicão which takes place on 25 and 26 November and which, among other actions, will have as one of its main moments the renewal of the commitment to join the network by all the 11 member museums, with the signing of a new 'Declaration of Principles' on 26 November, at 15h00, at the City Hall.
The Meeting also covers the launch of the book 'Museums, the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals: which paths?’, followed by a debate on the topic, on 25 November, from 14h45, at the National Railway Museum - Lousado Nucleus.
The debate counts with the participation of the authors of the articles present in the book, among them, Mariana Espel (Usina Eureka Project; scientific coordinator of the Project 'Museums of Famalicão. Desenvolvimento Sustentável na prática'), Sara Moreno Pires (Assistant Professor at the Aveiro University; Founder and Executive Director of Casa Comum da Humanidade), Graça Filipe (Museologist; researcher at the História, Territórios e Comunidades do Centro de Ecologia Funcional, pole of the Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa), Manuel Gama (Coordinator of 2CN-CLab; PolObs - Observatory of Science, Communication and Culture Policies of the Centro de Estudos de Comunicação e Sociedade da Universidade do Minho).
It should be noted that the Museum Network of Vila Nova de Famalicão has been organising this meeting since 2017, and this year it takes place under the veil of the 10th anniversary of its constitution. In addition to the aforementioned moments open to the community, the programme also includes specific actions for the teams from the member museums that integrate it, in order to foster a sense of belonging and strengthen the ties created between the museological units.
