The Conference Cycle ‘Thinking the Future from April - From Famalicão to the World’ involves six conferences, held fortnightly, always on Fridays.
The lecture series will be kicked off by António Gonçalves, artistic director of Famalicão's municipal gallery Ala da Frente, who will talk about ‘Art and the Revolution’ on 20 September.
The rest of the programme will be led by Ricardo Noronha, from the Institute of Contemporary History of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of Universidade Nova de Lisboa (IHC-NOVA de Lisboa), who will discuss ‘Conservative Reaction to 25 April (28 September 1974 and 11 March 1975)’ on 4 October, and Ivan Lima Cavalcanti, a researcher at CITCEM - Transdisciplinary Research Centre ‘Culture, Space and Memory’ of the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto (CITCEM-FLUP), who will explore ‘The Song of Intervention as a Means of Mobilisation’ on November 22.
It should be noted that this initiative is the result of an organisation by the Municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão, as part of the municipal commemorations of the ‘50 Years of 25 April’, in partnership with the CITCEM - FLUP, the IHC-NOVA of Lisbon, the Association of History Teachers (AHP) and the University of Paris 8.
The Vila Nova de Famalicão Schools Association Training Centre (CFAEVNF) will accredit the lecture series for 15 hours for teachers. Those interested should register on the CFAEVNF platform (www.cfaevnf.pt) to obtain accreditation as a training course.
