The Mayor of Vila Nova de Famalicão, Mário Passos, opens to the traffic tomorrow, September 13, by 09h30, the new connection of the Rua 5 de Outubro with the Avenida de França, which configures a new accessibility to the school zone of the city.
Simultaneously, a new traffic attitude will be introduced in the vicinity, which includes the inversion of the direction of travel in Rua Barão da Trovisqueira, remaining the only direction downwards in Rua António Silva Rego and Rua Padre António Carvalho Guimarães. Rua 5 de Outubro will have two-way traffic.
This new reality will allow a better traffic flow, increasing mobility, road safety and consequently the accessibility to the school zone. The intervention in Rua 5 de Outubro represented a municipal investment of around 120 thousand euros.
"It is a structuring intervention for the city's school zone. Its importance is incomparably greater than the investment made, because it means a new accessibility to schools, from Avenida de França, which is an artery with a good traffic flow capacity to the north and south of the city", said the Mayor, Mário Passos, at the time of the launch of the work, last June.
