More than one hundred thousand people have visited the Handicraft and Gastronomy Fair of Vila Nova de Famalicão over the last few weeks. The fair closed its doors this Sunday, September 11, after ten days of meetings and reunions with the most ancient traditions and customs of Portugal, with daily musical shows for all tastes, in the renovated Mouzinho de Albuquerque Square.
This was the 37th edition of the initiative, one of the main tourist products of the famalicense municipality and the Minho region, and was attended by seventy exhibitors, including artisans, producers, restaurants and taverns.
"It was another successful edition of one of the biggest handicraft and gastronomy fairs in the North of Portugal", comments the Mayor, Mário Passos. "It is an event that remains as a reference in the dissemination of the work of national artisans and products, this year with the increment of a renewed and pleasant stage, an evidence evidenced by the thousands of visitors from inside and outside the county that passed by Famalicão in the last ten days", he adds.
The Handicraft and Gastronomy Fair of Vila Nova de Famalicão took place from 2 to 11 September in Mouzinho de Albuquerque Square, also known as the old weekly fairground. The initiative had not been held since 2019, due to the pandemic and 2022 marks the return of this historic event.
