Laurus Nobilis returns in "Hangover" format in the Devesa Park
27-07-2021
The Laurus Nobilis is back with "a hangover of good and intense concerts" that features strong names from the national scene of alternative music. After a forced interruption in 2020, due to the pandemic situation, the metal festival returns, framed in the program of sociocultural summer entertainment - Anima-Te, with the concerts of Godiva and Downfall of Mankind on Saturday, July 31, at 7pm, and VËLLA and Lhabya on Sunday, August 1, at the same time.
Godiva is a Famalicense band, created in 1999, which released its first recording, in promotional CD format, under the name "Tales to be Untold" in 2000. This was followed by the EP "Traces of irony", in 2002, recorded at Rec n'Roll Studios and produced by Rui Danim and Luís Barros (Tarântula), revealing itself to be a significant work for the affirmation of the band. Five years later, in 2007, they released the album "Spiral", recorded at Ultrasound Studios and produced by Daniel Cardoso (Anathema), which gathered positive reviews nationally and internationally. After a memorable concert, in 2019, at the Vagos Metal Fest accompanied by an orchestra of about 50 musicians, and soon after a sold-out concert at Hard Rock Café Porto, Godiva will debut the new line-up at the Anima-te venue, next Saturday, at 7pm. On the same day, there will be a concert by Downfall of Mankind, who present their symphonic deathcore slam: "The Path of Human Existence".
Already on August 1, the highlight goes to VËLLA, a Lisbon alternative metal quintet, created in 2019, which presents its debut album "COMA". Released by Raising Legends Records, the album was well received by the public and expert critics, being considered one of the best albums released in 2020, in its category. VËLLA's concert starts at 7pm, and will be followed by the performance of Lhabya, an intense and aggressive rock band, founded in 2008, which has already toured the United States. With only one EP released, they are finishing the release process of their first album, called "Nymphonic".
Remember that the shows on the stage of Anima-te, installed in the Parque da Devesa, outdoors by the lake, have free admission, with mandatory withdrawal of ticket at the venue during the 2 hours before the show. Each person may raise up to six tickets. The venue is prepared to receive about 882 people with all safety conditions. It should be added that, in the Citizenship Square, the Handicraft and Street Food Market is installed until August 29, with the aim of promoting local products and producers, as well as gastronomic experiences.
The full programme of the 2021 edition of Anima-te is available for consultation at www.famalicao.pt.
