The Famalicão Half Marathon celebrated its 8th edition, on a morning when sports and physical activity were the motto to gather friends and family.
Mário Passos, Mayor of the City Hall of Famalicão, and Fernanda Ribeiro, godmother of the race, gave the starting shot for the 21 km race and for the new Run and Walk with a distance of 10 km.
In a course that passes through the historical centre of the city, but also through the outskirts, in a mixture of urban and rural environments, many were the brave athletes who enjoyed this sporting morning, even when the rain never let up.
Hugo Daniel Santos wins the 10 km
Making his debut in the 10 km distance, Hugo Daniel Santos (SC Salgueiros) was the first to cross the finish line in 00:31:18, immediately followed by Luís Mendes (Maia AC) with a time of 00:31:29, and, closing the podium, José Azevedo (Atlético Clube da Póvoa) with a time of 00:31:59.
In the female sector, it was Jéssica Pontes (Team El Comandante) who stood out from the remaining athletes, finishing the race alone in 00:36:48. In second place was Rosa Soares (Team El Comandante) with 00:40:27, and Beatriz Silva (ADEPE) with 00:41:02.
Hélio Gomes was the big winner
In the main race, it was the athlete from Sporting CP who, by completing the 21 km in 01:06:33, won this 8th Famalicão Half Marathon.
In the second position was Bruno Silva (Prime Running Clube), with a time of 01:00:33, and João Cruz (Maia Atlético Clube) closed the podium in 01:08:16.
Dulce Félix wins in women's race
The athlete from SL Benfica, Dulce Félix was in the highest position of the podium when she reached the finish line with a time of 01:15:04. In second place was Mónica Silva (SC Salgueiros), with 01:15:21, followed by Filomena Costa (ACD Jardim da Serra) with a time of 01:24:13.
The Sports Councillor of Vila Nova de Famalicão City Hall, Pedro Oliveira, the athlete Fernanda Ribeiro, godmother of the race, Jorge Teixeira, Runporto’s General Director, and the athlete Sara Moreira, attended the podium protocol ceremony.
