The Handicraft and Gastronomy Fair of Famalicão, one of the largest events of its kind in the country, is back and on a renewed stage. The Mouzinho de Albuquerque Square, in Famalicão, which was subject to a deep intervention of urban requalification, will host artisans and flavours from all over the country, with a lot of animation. It will be, therefore, a return marked by the improvement of the conditions of the initiative's venue, which now has new garden areas, urban furniture and a comfortable and friendly floor for people with mobility difficulties.
When entering the main entrance of the enclosure, located in front of the square - Market of Famalicão, the visitor will find nearly one hundred spaces dedicated to craftsmen and excellent gastronomic products, which will open their doors from Monday to Friday, between September 2nd and 11th, from 6 p.m., and at the weekend, from 2 p.m., surrounded by trees and new gardened areas.
The area dedicated to gastronomy will have an autonomous entrance, during lunchtime, through Av. Marechal Humberto Delgado, allowing visitors direct access to the space, with an autonomous opening hour. There will be around a dozen restaurants and taverns from places such as Bragança, Aveiro and Oliveira do Hospital, among others.
The show area, located next to Rua José Azevedo Menezes and Avenida José Manuel Marques, will be open every day of the event, hosting about twenty shows, performed by artists such as Sara Correia, Augusto Canário, Daniel Pereira Cristo, among others, with performances starting at 4 p.m. at the weekend and 9.30 p.m. during weekdays.
"It is, unquestionably, a touristic-cultural poster of national reference" highlights the Mayor, Mário Passos, who reveals himself with "good expectations" regarding the return of the fair, after two years of interregnum. "I believe that we will exceed the number of visitors we had in 2019 (...) we have a renewed and pleasant space, a true meeting point for citizens from inside and outside the municipality" refers the mayor.
