About 2000 run and walk enthusiast will invade the main streets of Famalicão on November 28. The official presentation of the 7th edition of the Half and Mini Marathon, organised by RunPorto, with the institutional support of the City Council of Vila Nova de Famalicão, took place today, November 22, in the Casa do Território, Devesa Park.
Among the registered athletes, the presence of athletes from nine nationalities - South Africa, Germany, Angola, Brazil, Spain, France, Italy, Portugal and United Kingdom - stands out, as well as the predominance of the 40 to 49 years old age group (38%).
The event has a safety plan which has already been approved by the health authorities, and includes measures such as: the obligation to present, when picking up the dorsal / participation kit, the digital certificate Covid-19 or, in its absence, a PCR test within 72 hours or an antigen test within 48 hours prior to the race, as well as the mandatory use of a mask until the start of the race and after the finish.
"We are already in the 7th edition and we want to maintain the partnership with RunPorto" comments Mário Passos, Mayor of Famalicão, who praises the work of the organising entity. "We are committed to promoting sport", says the mayor, "we want all the citizens of Famalicão to practise sport and to feel that it is important for their quality of life".
Mário Passos also highlights the touristic value of the event. "We want this initiative to also contribute to sports tourism", stresses the mayor, who believes "that we still have room for progression to attract more participants from outside the county".
"It is an honour for us to be able to organize this Half Marathon (in Famalicão) once again", comments Jorge Teixeira, RunPorto's general director. "We hope that Famalicão celebrates another beautiful sporting event", he says.
Remember that online registration for the Famalicão Half Marathon (21km) and Mini (6 km) Marathon runs until tomorrow, November 23, through the site www.runporto.com , or in person, in the Educational Services of the Devesa Park, the day before the race.
