This Thursday, Vila Nova de Famalicão City Council approved the opening of the application period for the Municipal Programme of Financial Support for Research Grants, a unique measure, within the municipal scope, to promote business innovation through the development of Research and Innovation (R&I) activities and their transfer to the municipality's industry. The programme provides for the award of five prizes for research grants worth €5,000 each.
Aimed at researchers and grant holders with ongoing research projects approved by official national or international institutions, the period for receiving applications begins on 1st February and runs until 30th April, via the Famalicão MadeIN site, at
www.famalicaomadein.pt, where you will find the application form, as well as regulatory information about the programme.
"We take as one of the main priorities the bet in a creative county, where innovation proliferates and conditions for development are created, through research (...) for that we have to retain and attract talent and that is one of the great objectives of this initiative" says the Mayor, Mário Passos, remembering that this is
"a measure that meets the commitment made with the famalicenses to create a program of innovation scholarships, in order to enhance the economic competitiveness of our county".
This measure follows the implementation of the municipal strategy 'from MadeIN to CreatedIN', which includes a new axis of action: MadeInovar. This new Famalicão MadeIn approach aims to create and develop value, seeking to attract technology-based companies, encourage transition - digital and climate -, promote science, knowledge and technology, bring together the entities of the Research and Innovation System (ENESII) and companies in the territory, as well as create, attract and retain talent and foster cohesion and social well-being.
