The longest night of the year is back and thousands of people are expected to live the Carnival in the streets of Vila Nova de Famalicão. So that no one misses the party on February 20, the City Council has decided, once again, to ensure free bus transport within the municipality.
In total there will be 12 bus lines that will leave the various parishes of the municipality - Joane, Pedome, Riba d'Ave, Bairro, Ribeirão, Fradelos, Gondifelos, Arnoso Santa Eulália, Portela, Nine, Jesufrei and Lousado - at 21h30, 22h15 and 23h00, towards the city centre, where the party goes on until dawn.
This year, and taking into account the notice of strike of CP workers for the Carnival period that led to the cancellation of the usual partnership with the municipality by the railway operator, the City Council decided to strengthen the number of bus circuits on Carnival night, with three more lines in the field leaving Nine, Jesufrei and Lousado.
It should also be noted that the return trips are scheduled for 02h00, 03h45 and 05h00, leaving from Parque 1.º de Maio, in front of the D. Sancho I High School.
Note also that, this year, the municipality maintains the reinforcement of the departures from Joane with two buses in each schedule and Riba de Ave with three.
The trips are free of charge and to travel you just have to show up at the bus stops, available for consultation at www.famalicao.pt.
