The City Hall of Vila Nova de Famalicão will start the delimitation procedure of a new Urban Implementation Unit in the northern area of the city, which will considerably improve the accesses to the Hospital and to this area of the city, through the creation of a roundabout in the Avenue 9 de Julho and respective road connections to the Hospital and the Talvai area.
The implementation of the execution unit will also allow an area of 3,274m² of land to be made available to the public domain for the construction of a Public Car Park, increasing the supply of parking spaces in the area adjacent to the Hospital.
The proposal for this new Execution Unit will be analysed and approved in the Town Council meeting this Thursday, the 9th of February, followed by the public discussion period that will start on the 5th day after the publication of the respective notice in the Official Gazette.
The delimited area is located next to Avenida 9 de Julho and Rua Norton de Matos, north of the Hospital, in the Union of the Parishes of Vila Nova de Famalicão and Calendário, and covers an area of 23,490.25m². It complies with the legal requirements regarding the delimitation criteria of the execution units and aims at the structuring and consolidation of the northern area of the city.
The proposal foresees the reparcelling and the infrastructuration of an area destined for edification. With commercial and service zones, and others destined for housing, it in turn allows for the elimination of an existing health risk area, as well as a new dignified and fundamental access to the Hospital, both for ambulances and for traffic in general, with the benefit of a public car park nearby. The creation of a roundabout on Avenida 9 de Julho (EN206) will reduce the risk of accidents on that road, while providing new access to Talvai, an area undergoing major development.
This execution unit is located near the urbanistic intervention that is being carried out next to Avenida Engenheiro Pinheiro Braga, on the National Road 14, at the exit of Vila Nova de Famalicão towards Braga, where a renewed accessibility to Famalicão and a new urbanization is also being born.
