Vila Nova de Famalicão City Council is the fourth most transparent city in the country among the large cities in Portugal according to the association Dyntra, an independent organisation that has as one of its main purposes to promote the transparency of municipal public administrations with projects and methodologies developed in several countries. In the global index, Famalicão appears positioned as the seventh most transparent in the country.

Dyntra is the first collaborative platform in the world to work on the mediation and management of open government in Civil Society organisations. Its purposes are to measure public information from governments, public authorities, political parties and elected representatives in a dynamic, efficient, transparent, open and collaborative way.
The organisation adopts a dynamic methodology contemplating a continuous update of results, opening the information to the public and the civil society using the new technologies efficiently.
"It is gratifying, above all, to realise that our efforts in terms of transparency and the rendering of accounts with the citizens are on the right track", says the Mayor, Mário Passos, noting
"the municipality's growing concern with the availability of information on municipal management".
