The World Food Day which is celebrated next Saturday, 16th October, will be marked with the initiative "Devesa Clarifies", an informal lecture on "Food Safety: Myths, mistakes and successes", with the presence of nutritionist Carla Sousa and food engineer and professor at CESPU, Rui Lima. The session will take place at 21h00, at Casa do Território. The entrance is free, until the current capacity of the room.
With this initiative, the Devesa Park resumes the sessions of "Devesa Clarifies" which began in 2017 in order to raise awareness and inform the population on issues related to the environment, biodiversity, sustainable development, health and well-being.
Healthy food is that which does not cause harm to health and for this, it is necessary to have food safety habits in our daily lives. Domestic kitchens are the place where the prevalence of foodborne diseases is highest, despite the fact that domestic food handlers know the general concepts of safe food handling.
One of the most common errors among the Portuguese is washing poultry before cooking or storing food incorrectly in the refrigerator, for example, increasing the risk of foodborne disease (food poisoning/infections).
