Next week, around 9,000 senior citizens from the 49 parishes of the municipality will head to Fátima for the traditional senior walk organised by the Town Hall. The get-together will take place over three days, between 4 and 6 September.
Next Wednesday, the 4th, seniors from the Parish Union of Antas and Abade de Vermoim, the Parish Union of Arnoso (Santa Maria and Santa Eulália) and Sezures, the Parish Union of Gondifelos, Cavalões and Outiz, the Parish Union of Lemenhe, Mouquim and Jesufrei, the Parish Union of Famalicão and Calendário, Brufe, Gavião, Louro and Nine will be travelling to Fátima.
Thursday 5th is the turn of the Avidos and Lagoa parish union, the Carreira and Bente parish union, the Esmeriz and Cabeçudos parish union, the Ruivães and Novais parish union, the Seide, Bairro, Delães, Fradelos, Landim, Lousado, Ribeirão and Vilarinho das Cambas parish unions.
Finally, on Friday 6th, it's the turn of Castelões, Cruz, Joane, Mogege, Oliveira Santa Maria, Oliveira São Mateus, Pedome, Pousada de Saramagos, Requião, Riba de Ave, Vale São Martinho and Vermoim, and the Union of Parishes of Telhado, Vale São Cosme and Portela.
Compared to last year's meeting, this year's get-together has 600 more senior citizens. Participants in this get-together are citizens aged 65 and over or pensioners aged 60 and over.
It should be noted that the Senior Walk to Fátima is a traditional gathering that brings together the municipality's senior community. The outing is also one of the largest senior get-togethers in the country. The meeting is free of charge for seniors and is organised by the Social Action division of the Town Hall, in conjunction with all the parish councils in the municipality.
