The great Antoninas Festivities will start tomorrow. The first days are marked by the concert of Xutos & Pontapés and the inauguration of the Antoninas Waterfalls, on the 7th of June, and the performance of Maninho, on the 9th, a day that the Antoninas Children's Marches also take to the streets.
Xutos & Pontapés, a national band that needs no introduction, will then take the main stage, which will be installed at D. Maria II Square, tomorrow, June 7, at 22h00. On this first day, the Antoninas Waterfalls will also be inaugurated, at 9 de Abril Square, at 10am, a tradition that counts on the participation of two dozen educational institutions and famalicense associations, as well as the exhibition 'Tempos de Festa', at Bernardino Machado Museum, at 6.30pm.
On the following day, June 8, Corpus Christi Day, the 4th Meeting of Cavaquinho Players will take place at Praceta Cupertino de Miranda, at 2:30 p.m., organized by Grupo de Cavaquinhos do Liberdade Futebol Clube.
Thursday night is dedicated to romantic music, with the famalicense artist Costinha, who takes the stage at Praça D. Maria II, at 9:30 p.m.
June 9 is marked by the parade of the Antoninas Children's Marches, which starts at 25 de Abril Avenue, at 14h30. The parade will count on the participation of over 1500 children from 23 educational institutions in the municipality, who will parade through the streets of the city showing all their talent and creative work, in a version of the Famalicão Marches.
The 'Raid Todo o Terreno', a race organised by the Famalicão Aventura Club, will also take place on the same day.
Friday's programme ends with the sound of the Brazilian artist Maninho, a versatile musician known for the song "Pode Tentar", who performs at D. Maria II Square at 10 p.m.
The Famalicão Antoninas Festivities take place from June 7th to 13th, with a vast programme composed of almost forty activities spread throughout seven days blessed by Saint Anthony, with initiatives for all tastes and ages, which promise to do justice to the recent classification of the festivities as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Portugal.
