This Thursday, the Famalicense municipal executive approved the opening of the public tender for the construction of a new Family Health Unit (USF) in the parish of Joane. The work has a starting price of 2.2 million euros.
The new USF facilities will be built on a 2825m2 plot of land on Rua da Ribeira, in Joane.
The project includes more than a dozen medical offices, spaces dedicated to general health care, nursing, women's and children's health care offices, an administrative area, a support area and waiting rooms, sanitary facilities, among other spaces.
The construction of the new USF in Joane is the result of a series of programme contracts signed by the Municipality of Famalicão with the Northern Regional Health Administration, which served as the basis for submitting applications to the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), with a view to building and equipping primary healthcare facilities.
In addition to Joane, a procedure is also underway for the São Miguel-o-Anjo USF in Calendário, as well as projects for new units in Nine and Ruivães and for the requalification of the Famalicão Health Centre and the Pneumological Diagnostic Centre.
"In February, we took an important step towards materialising the new S. Miguel-o-Anjo USF in Calendário, and today it was time to start materialising the new USF in Joane," said the Mayor, Mário Passos, who stressed the municipality's commitment to "modernising and improving the municipality's health facilities in order to guarantee an effective response to the population's healthcare needs".
